Kittens should be played with daily. Stalking and pouncing are normal play behaviours in kittens. If given a sufficient outlet for these behaviours with toys, your kitten will be less likely to use you or your family members for these activities!! The best toys are lightweight and movable and include crumpled up balls of paper, small balls, toy mice, catnip mice and cat teasers, just to name a few. Prevent problems by avoiding anything with string or ribbons that can be swallowed. This includes ribbons on gifts. Another gem of a toy is a light pointer.

Most cats love to play. Even the most committed couch potato can be encouraged to play if they receive enough encouragement! Try to play with your cat for about 10-15 minutes a day. It is a great habit to get into that will keep your cat healthy and happy.
